Adjunct Nutritional Support That Complements Medical Care

Dr. Beth John has over 30 years of clinical experience supporting patients with complex, chronic, and quality-of-life–limiting conditions through individualized, evidence-informed nutritional care. Her work is designed to support—not replace—medical treatment, with a strong emphasis on coordination, and respect for the physician–patient relationship.

This page is intended for physicians and healthcare providers who are interested in referring patients for adjunct nutritional support.

How I Support Your Care

My role is to help address nutritional and metabolic contributors that can influence symptom burden, healing capacity, and patient resilience—particularly in cases where standard care alone has not fully resolved quality-of-life concerns.

Referring physicians can expect:

  • Nutritional care that complements your diagnosis and treatment plan
  • Clear boundaries: I do not diagnose medical conditions or discontinue medications
  • Patients who are better educated, more engaged, and often more compliant with care
  • Efficient communication, if needed, that respects your time.

Clinical Focus Areas

I frequently work with patients experiencing:

  • Urinary and prostate-related symptoms
  • Cognitive decline, memory impairment, and early neurodegenerative concerns (including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s-related      cognitive issues)
  • Chronic fatigue, low energy, and reduced stamina
  • Chronic inflammation
  • Neuropathy and nerve-related complaints
  • Sleep disruption and fatigue
  • Metabolic and cardiovascular risk factors
  • Digestive dysfunction
  • Musculoskeletal pain with inflammatory or nutritional components

Many of these patients have seen multiple providers and continue to struggle despite appropriate medical management.

What Referring Physicians Appreciate

  • Reduced symptom burden in challenging cases
  • Improved patient satisfaction and quality of life
  • No added administrative work for your office
  • A trusted colleague who respects scope, safety, and collaboration

Sample Clinical Case #1 (De-Identified)

  Case 1: Chronic Urinary Dysfunction
Patient: Male, mid-70s
Primary Concern: Chronic urinary dysfunction (7-year duration)

Reported Symptoms:

  • Straining and prolonged urination
  • Incomplete bladder emptying and post-void dribbling
  • Nocturia 4–5× nightly
  • Significant sleep disruption and daytime fatigue
  • Adverse effects from medication

Adjunct Nutritional Intervention:
A targeted nutritional program was initiated to support inflammatory balance, bladder and prostate tissue health, neuromuscular signaling, and sleep quality.

Reported Outcomes (within 2 weeks):

  • Normalized urination and complete emptying
  • Resolution of nocturia
  • Restored sleep and improved daytime energy

Improved tolerance of medical therapy; medication adjustments were made by the prescribing physician.

Sample Clinical Case #2 (De-Identified)

Case 2: Cognitive Decline with Neurodegenerative Disease
Patient: Male, early 80s
Medical History: Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease

Presenting Concerns:

  • Marked cognitive decline with hesitant, fragmented speech
  • Word-finding difficulty and frequent misuse of words
  • Periods of disengagement during conversation (placing head in hands, stopping mid-thought)
  • Inability to manage personal finances or paperwork
  • Stiff, poorly coordinated movement

Adjunct Nutritional Intervention:
A personalized nutritional and supplement program was developed to support neuroinflammation balance, mitochondrial and metabolic function, neurotransmitter support, and neuromuscular coordination.

Reported Outcomes:

  • 5 weeks:  Significant improvement in coordination and motor fluidity; patient was observed dancing with coordination and ease at a social event within his assisted living community. Facial expression alert and present.
  • 3 months:  Marked cognitive improvement reported by family. Patient was able to review tax documents, understand deadlines and dates, and engage in sustained conversation with appropriate recall and reminiscence. Hesitant speech and conversational shutdown behaviors were no longer observed.
  • Ongoing:     Family later reported the patient had resumed painting—an activity he had abandoned due to cognitive decline—and completed a complex, sophisticated piece of artwork.

This case illustrates how targeted nutritional support, used as an adjunct to medical care, may meaningfully improve cognitive function, communication, motor coordination, and quality of life in patients with neurodegenerative disease.

Results vary by individual, and nutritional interventions are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or replace medical management of neurodegenerative disease.
